KITSELAS CANYON TOURS
Experience Kitselas Canyon
The Kitselas Canyon National Historic Site is open to visitors on a seasonal basis.
Take a walk amid towering old growth trees, feel the moss beneath your feet and immerse yourself in an ecosystem that has been home to Ts’msyen people for more than 6,000 years.
Discover the scenic and gentle Canyon Trail that leads to the Ts’msyen Clan Poles and the viewing platform over the K'syen, the Skeena River.

The four clans
The Clan (pteex) poles represent the four clans of the Ts’msyen people:
-
Wolf — Laxgibuu
-
Eagle — Laxgiik
-
Raven — Ganhada
-
Killer Whale — Gispudwada
Along the trail, you’ll also pass the remains of an ancient dugout canoe, partially completed and made in the traditional dug-out style. Visitors can even see old adze marks on the outside of the canoe.
